I agree, Corey's awesome. I think each member brings their own, unique styles to the band and you can tell Corey is a dictionary of metal just by listening to him.

It's true I picked up on it when I was in the studio with them. He'd track a song and I'd be like "man that's pretty fuckin' Iced Earth (or other band names)" and he'd grin at me and be like "hell yea dude."

Let's not get carried away here. I think Matt is a least as good a songwriter as Corey and most likely better. We've only heard 2 full songs written by Corey but look at all the classics Matt wrote in the 3 albums. Unrepentant is an amazing song I've give Corey that but he hasn't proven himself nearly as much as Matt. Also, more theory and technical guitar skill doesn't necessarily make you a better songwriter, otherwise we'd be listening to dream theater instead of Trivium. I've always thought Metallica wrote much better songs than Megadeth eventhough Megadeth is more technical. Don't get me wrong, Corey is an amazing lead guitarist (better than Matt in this dept for sure) and he definitely shows excellent songwriting skills so far. But Matt is the chief songwriter in Trivium for a reason, he does it VERY well. I mean look at the RR united album, they had veterans songwriters there and Matt the rookie came in and owned them with In The Fire!
