why all the stupid metallica comparissons?
September 16, 2009 1:56:33 AM UTC Post #1

I bet 100% that if matt hadnt told everyone he was a big fan of metallica no one would be making these comparissons, his voice hardly sounds like hetfield, only on the odd word. The guitar is mind bending...far better than kirk hammet who does the same solos over n over again. (i do like metallica dont worry lol) The riffs are alot heavier than metallica.
This is a totally different band. Yes the intro to one song sounds like metallica. thats it, nothing else sounds like metallica to me.
I hear more megadeth influence in there and even glam metal bands influences in the album than metallica.
Its really stupid. Even kerrang whined about it. I just dont get it. Like i said its just because matt is a fan of metallica alot, thats the only reason. (pah just cause they wanna make good metal, not this screaming vocals stuff)

I have to agree with you there. Like Matt said in the interview everyone sounds like someone else and that vocal style is what came naturally to him.
Heafy > Hetfield

The influence on Heafy is soooo rediculous he tried to becom Metallica.
Like I wish I could be Chuck Schuldiner.

I think that when Matt signs hew doesn't sound like Hetfield but his on stage presnece reminds me of a young Hetfield (pre Master Of Puppets).

People try and use the whole Metallica similarties as a negative thing to bring the band down with.
TBH.. I may not be as big a fan of Metallica like certain people.. they made some classic albums.. but there's nowt wrong with being like Metallica.
We get it.. Matt and the others like Metallica!!!
But do you see everyone moan every second that all power metal bands sound like Iron Maiden?
What Im saying is... whoever makes another "New Trivium = Metallica" thread.. I will come to your house and skullfuck you!

People compare them (and Metalli-fans bash Trivium) because Triv put out the album that they thought Saint Anger was supposed to be.
I think it scares them to know a band might out-Metallica Metallica, if y'know what I mean.

No I have no idea what you mean ...

From the songs I've heard so far I hear Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Dokken, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, some Nu-Metal and Punk stuff as well as some Modern Rock...
Another words too many influences to really define it as someone else's style, people just say Metallica because that is the Thrash band most people are familiar with.
I think people just hear a song once and judge it, when in reality you should let something sink in before you give an opinion on it.
Hell I bought Ascendancy listened to it once and thought it was shit because the screaming was pretty harsh and annoying to my ears at the time. But a month later I came back to listen to the intro because I liked that part and let the whole album just play and ended up enjoying it more and more untill I loved it. So yeah don't be so quick to judge something, IMO.

Matt himself would probably call you dumb for writing that.

"Why all the stupid Metallica comparisons?"
Because he sounds like James. I'm not saying that he's trying to copy his style, but he just sounds like him.
