QUOTE(PAOLO)QUOTE(Nordic Storm)Trivium have maybe mentioned Metallica a bit too much in the interviews that they have done.
Thank the interviewers and mags for always bringing them up.
Tell me about it, it's like come on, show some intelligence and talk about something else for once, they think they're the first to come up with that comparison and they're really clever for doing so, it's a really old cliche now.
I'd like the mags and interviewers to be more challenging with their questions and actually show some thought, but that might be asking a bit too much, especially for kerrang...

Saying someone sounds like Metallica isn't bad! I would be floored if someone told me "dude your bass work sounds like Cliff Burton." Sure maybe there are influences here and there but they're not just from Metallica. There is more to thrash than Metallica. There are subtle differences in sound from Ascendancy to The Crusade but I'm glad that the new album came out the way it did. Ascendancy was great but it would be kinda boring to hear Ascendancy II kinda like Unearth and their new cd III: In the Eyes of Fire. That album itself is really good and I enjoy very much, however, it sounds just like The Oncoming Storm.
At least you can say now that Trivium won't be like AC/DC and record the same song over and over again 15 times, release that as a new album, and repeat the process from year to year.

QUOTE(gingerneo)more songs sound testamenty than like metallica imo
+1
yeh everyone i know who used to like trivium are saying they just sound like tallica.
its really annoying now

like interms of vocals they both heavy sing but are very unique, hardly a rip off

trvivium use waaay more harmonies than tallica, and the solos arent just pentatonic wank.

the only comparison is the yeahs in anthem, but thats it.
i was actually quite suprised when somebody said they arere a miaden rip off now

All publicity is good publicity. 8)
And the issue is really that magazines have totally misunderstood what Trivium were aiming for.
Metallica, biggest metal band in the world.
Trivium want to be the next Metallica in the sense of being the next biggest band in the world.
Not become a Metallica clone, stupid magazines.
And no.. the vocal style doesnt mean they are a Metallica clone. Because there might be Metallica influnences on The Crusade.. but there's other band influnences and its still got that trademark Trivium essence about it.
Trivium are gonna be bigger then Metallica one day. I'll bet on it! 8)

Matt's vocal style is similar to Hetfields...but he doesn't sound like him AT ALL. And the music has metallica influence but I would NEVER say it `sounds like metallica`. Far from it. Where do you guys get this `trivium is a metallica clone` shit from?

Every band in the world wants to be the next biggest band, but you don't hear people talking about someone like In Flames being the next biggest band. All the interviews I've about other groups simply state things like "they want to be the next biggest band." Trivium wanted to be the next Metallica.
The context of the words themselves suggest they want to a hell of a lot like Metallica.

Maybe they just mean like the status of Metallica in metal which is like...they've been around for awhile and their still making music and playing shows.
There are bands that are huge for bit then they fall off and you don't hear of them again. So maybe when they say next Metallica they are just trying to be specific?
Whatever, it doesn't really matter. The music doesn't sound like Metallica. And its amazing (from what I've heard so far, which are the songs officially released off the crusade)
