QUOTE(the_reeper_)just coz trivium give there approch to the album doesnt mean its the truth there hardly gonne say "this new album is bassically a metallica album with my band playing on it, do metal hammer and kerrang think im kool?"
They're not going to say it because it's not true.
If you don't agree with what Matt said: "Everything sounds like something else" then you obviously know nothing about music.

I hate the way that most Trivium fans on this board, and especially you in this thread, think their opinion is gosepl and will not acknowledge there is 2 sides to an argument.

October 01, 2006 2:39:33 PM UTC Post #66

Exactly...it's an argument and i'm arguing against the reepers opinion.

October 01, 2006 2:42:16 PM UTC Post #67

You missed my point completely.

October 01, 2006 9:02:24 PM UTC Post #68

Ok, well I'm going to state my opinion again. This time, with a few other facts and a little more supporting evidence.
Trivium are getting bigger, yes. Trivium's styles has changed, yes... which brings me to my first point.
Another member of this board said that they were reinventing music. It's hardly a reinvention when there were hundreds of bands in the 80's playing the exact same style Trivium are today. (well not exact same style, Trivium is more technical "thrash-core", then just solid thrash). If Trivium are so highly influenced by all of these, it's almost necessary to say they are ripping off of a band.
Now all of you that said "OMG TR1V1UM S0UND 3X4C7LY L1K3 T4LL1C4! lollerputfistinass!!!11!!1!1!11!!!", you've also dug yourself into a hole. Metallica were the biggest thing for what they were, Thrash/Heavy Metal. Now, it's plainly clear why everyone think they sound like Metallica. Trivium are big, and Metallica are big ... OMG TH3Y MU57 S0UND 3X4C7LY 7H3 S4M3!. Not quite, children. Matt has attained the same style as James Hetfield, but honesty, if any of you listen to a lot of thrash he sounds more like the guy from testament than anyone else, and the riffs on the Crusade are all generic thrash type riffs. DONE BY EVERY THRASH BAND IN THE 80's! not just Metallica.
As I've stated a hundred times. I don't like the change that Trivium has taken. The album, to me, is just a rehash of every 80's thrash album ever, with a little more technicality. I thought they were much more original on ETI and Ascendancy. If they would have changed to all screaming, I think they would probably be my favorite band ever.
Now that I've written an essay on the subject, and don't even remember what the hell I just typed... please discuss
