Why do they get shit?

Understandably, every band gets shit about something but I heard a few negative vibes about these guys as far as talent and cockiness goes.
Anything else you guys heard as far as criticizms go? Me personally, it's interesting to hear what these people are bitching about but in the end i'm still enjoying the music.

Bands like Megadeth, Testament, and Slayer all got shit in the beginning.
After this album, trivium will get less.

Don't know... I don't really care either...

whats funny is that people who talk shit or try to mock the band such as the tirvium interpation videos and such are actually listening and keeping track of trivium just to talk shit. sorta ironic right?

because theyre metalcore --- duh!!
in all actuality, most people bash em cause theyre not 'heavy' enough... i guess some people dont appreciate melody in america anymore, huh?
people try to damn hard to out-heavy each other

Here is my honest opinion through observations:
The majority of people that dislike Trivium within the metal community just do not care for their sound. The "bashing" seems to stem from a combination of dislike for both the label they are on (and bands on the aforementioned label) and the crowd of people that (at least their other albums) mainly appealed to.
Another thing I noticed was that their live show tends to piss off people that otherwise didn't say anything. When they played a show with Amon Amarth that I caught, I noticed that the constant verbal goading to start a nonexistent circle pit and to jump up and down seemed to cause quite a few people to respond negatively.
I don't think it has anything to do with melody or not being heavy enough. One person that I knew that criticized them heavily was a huge NWOBHM guru, and it's not like that stuff is violent blast-beat infested mayhem.
I don't care for the band, but I see no reason to bash them as others have.

what i've noticed is that the bashing, especially from blabbermouth kids, is from people who, based on their "favorite" bands, probably wouldn't like music like trivium anyways. so it's stupid to bash a band, that can't realistically be compared to what you like. like comparing trivium to necrophagist, and cannibal corpse, and amon amarth. it doesn't make sense. sure, some people DO enjoy all of these bands, plus trivium. but a lot are elite, and would never dare. they should just pass it over like you would any other band that would be of no interest to you.
that's just what i've noticed a lot. and i think the guys regard the bashing in a similar manner. on that tour, they realized amon amarth fans werent' digging them. but they weren't just going give up on the way they run their show. they stuck through it. even though amon amarth were actually really fucking cool people! and liked trivium a lot. as i'm sure their fans would hate to believe it.
don't bother about the bashing, most of the guys don't read it or care about it. they're obviously doing quite well regardless of haters.

The door swings both ways, though. It's gotten to the point where it is trendy to bash the band and just as trendy to label a person that utters any statement of remote criticism as a "hater".

yeah well, that's just it. it's become trendy to even know what trivium is up to. which is the whole "all publicity is good publicity." as paolo said in a recent metal hammer interview, some bands have come up to them and said that they wish people hated their band as much as people hate on trivium. it's the biggest publicity whirlwind on both sides of positive and negative. i kind of feel like if there is this much argument about one band, they have to be doing something right.
