ANNOUNCE NICK AUGUSTO AS NEW DRUMMER
    RECORD TWO BRAND NEW TRACKS
“SHATTERING THE SKIES ABOVE” TO APPEAR ON GOD OF WAR BLOOD & METAL EP
TO TOUR ASIA, AUSTRALIA, UK IN MARCH

New York, NY: Florida metallers TRIVIUM are pleased to announce Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in behind the kit on last fall’s “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.

Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy commented, “We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family. Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering the Skies Above,” that we just recorded with Nick. I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.”

The always industrious Trivium are wasting no time in the wake of this line up shift and are staying busy as they work their new skinsman into the fold. The band has recorded two brand new tracks: the aforementioned “Shattering the Skies Above” will appear on the forthcoming, digital-only God of War Blood & Metal EP, as well as a cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World.”

The band will also head right back out on the road, embarking on a tour of Asia, New Zealand, Australia and the UK, which kicks off February 11, in Jakarta, Indoensia and runs through March 24 in England. This will be the band’s final tour dates in support of 2008’s Shogun. Once the tour ends, the band will head back to the studio to work on their next album for Roadrunner Records.

Hopefully this guy can bring to band what Travis did over the years. Im pretty confident that the band knew what they were looking for and how to continue being one of the best metal bands around. Just lookin foreward to some new material!

IS THAT TRUE?travis left Trivium for his fam?

Welcome, Nick Augusto! Thanks for supporting the band and for the hard work you've been putting up with the guys :)
But I'm still going to miss Travis! *-*

This needs to stop...ALL members of Trivium are people and a family and have their own lives. When something happens in any family that causes a breakup or whatever it's not our place to ask about every single detail. The fact that they have told us as much as they did is enough. What happened should stay between the people involved and we as fans should respect that. Each one of us had something happen at one point in our lives and i don't think any of the band members would ever think of asking us about every detail. Trivium is about the music they make and us the fans, no other band is this much interactive with us. They did what they had to to keep going forward so they can do what they love to do which is make music for us fans and themselves! Why go into detail that at this point?

People, whining in comments doesn't bring Travis back. Just accept Nick, seriously. Personally I think he's an awesome drummer and he fits the band!

I will miss Travis.

However, Nick's style may bring a new element to the band. We shall see in the forthcoming track :)
First of all, whats the reson that travis left? or did he get kicked out?

From what i can see of nicks drumming live, it needs more structure and orginality from what it was recorded like.
to me its sounds messy.
With all your respect! Just saying.

cant wait for shattering to see how hes drumming goes.
"Travis left Trivium to spend time with his family and wife."

How come there is no word on Travis and how you guys feel about him? To me it seems like you have no respect for the past history you guys had and seems to me like its a "Oh well!" kind of situation. I was expecting something like "I hope the best for Travis" or something of that sort but nothing about it.

ohh come not again why do this happen again evey band that i like this shit happens .i think a lot of fans want travis but as always we´re gonna be there so blow us away nick

I respect Trivium's decision, although I would have preferred that Travis stayed. Original is original, but still, they're Trivium and they know best. Good luck on Nick on Trivium.

Nick is an amazing drummer live the way he put his own style into the ember to inferno and crusade stuff live was amazing (especially pillars and serpents blast city!) and he seems like he is funny as fuck. Cant wait to hear shattering the skies above! WELCOME NICK!

Saitenhexerin's picture

well, we all knew it...didn't we?
Thanks to Travis for 4 great albums, and we are looking forward to seeing and hearing Nick live!

I miss travis smith.
But I respect the decision of the trivium.

trivium-nick_fan's picture

After much thought and an initial pissed off reaction, I have decided that Nick Augusto will be awesome for Trivium, and that maybe it was time for Travis to call it quits. Nick is a lot more solid from what I've seen in live videos than Travis ever was.

I look forward to seeing how Nick's playing style affects the next album. Nick, congrats bro!

@Chase Pyke: I heard this from an interview or something of the sort. I just know that he got married.

I can't wait to hear what Nick has to offer, welcome Nick.

Travis, you will be sorely missed.

Nick is a different breed of skinsman. He made the Crusade songs sound even more epic. I will definitely miss Travis though. Smith's drumming on the Shogun record was amazing...probably the best he's ever done.
