ANNOUNCE NICK AUGUSTO AS NEW DRUMMER
    RECORD TWO BRAND NEW TRACKS
“SHATTERING THE SKIES ABOVE” TO APPEAR ON GOD OF WAR BLOOD & METAL EP
TO TOUR ASIA, AUSTRALIA, UK IN MARCH

New York, NY: Florida metallers TRIVIUM are pleased to announce Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in behind the kit on last fall’s “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.

Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy commented, “We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family. Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering the Skies Above,” that we just recorded with Nick. I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.”

The always industrious Trivium are wasting no time in the wake of this line up shift and are staying busy as they work their new skinsman into the fold. The band has recorded two brand new tracks: the aforementioned “Shattering the Skies Above” will appear on the forthcoming, digital-only God of War Blood & Metal EP, as well as a cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World.”

The band will also head right back out on the road, embarking on a tour of Asia, New Zealand, Australia and the UK, which kicks off February 11, in Jakarta, Indoensia and runs through March 24 in England. This will be the band’s final tour dates in support of 2008’s Shogun. Once the tour ends, the band will head back to the studio to work on their next album for Roadrunner Records.

Travis to me, will always be the drummer of Trivium....gonna be hard to welcome the new one, for the moment. At least he's good I guess, but damn...I want to know what happened

Well at least it's confirmed now. Travis was a nice guy. Oh well, the band rolls on. Can't wait to hear the new songs

Sometimes things don't work out. That's enough reason. Now like Trivium lets move on and away from the subject

Travis kicks nick ass at drumming he is trying to turn trivium into death metal

@Punisher12: ever thought about that fact that Travis maybe quit because of personal things? And that the guys didnt throw him out of the band? I think you should think before you write stuff in here, because we all dont have a clue what happend between the guys or in what situation Travis is. And why is he respectless to Travis? Just because he put his personal touch into the songs? I think every Drummer would play the songs a little diffrent, because every one has a diffrent style. Maybe its not a huge diffrence between Drummers or Guitar Players, but I think everybody has his style and plays every song his way and not for example in Travis Smith way. I think if he would play everything like Travis, everybody would call him a bad Drummer because he only copies the things.

So I dont think that the Guys and now especially Nick is not respectless!

Travis left because he got married and he wants to settle down or something. It's a good thing the Matt decided to stay even though he got married too. Even though Travis left because he got married I still respect him since he is an amazing drummer and he will be missed.

Welcome to Trivium Nick!

News was sort of inevitable, although I had hoped some reasoning behind Travis leaving would have been announced.

Can't wait to hear Shattering the Skies Above!

@JasminMehinagic: dude....... finally someone agrees, obviously travis is a HUGE loss and Trivium has bee my favorite band since i was 10 in '05 and it wont be the same but we gotta realize that they have a life outside of Trivium.

I think that the band will do just as great when Travis was there. Hope to see yall again live. :D

At least tell us why he left...

He was like my druminstructor, listening to him, thaught me how to play drums.

Anyway, still would like to welcome nick

Punisher12's picture

To me, Nick will always be "The Backup" I personally think its disrepectful to take the songs on how Travis did drums and mix it up with his own personality. If hes "So good" then why can't he respect how Travis tracked those songs and do it the way he did them?

I feel as if they have no respect for Travis.

They told us that Travis was only going to be gone for the second leg of the headlining tour. Nick plays in for Travis as "The Backup". Who knows? I think they were already set with Nick, just hiding it from the public. But I can't tell until we figure out what happened.
