    Trivium: In the Studio

The metalcore monsters return to a simpler approach on their upcoming record.

For their forthcoming fourth studio album, Trivium will move forward by looking back. The group will forego the complex epic compositions, tricked-out leads and seven-string guitars that characterized its past two albums and take an approach similar to that of its second album, 2005’s Ascendancy, by using uncluttered riffs, drop-D tuning and more straightforward solos.

@AshesArise: are you sure? cause if that's true the article doesn't indicate it very well. i guess it wouldnt make sense if they didnt know, cause they refer to ascendancy as their 2nd album, which is true, and they point out that they used 7 string guitars on the past two albums, so they have the proof that they have in fact made at least 4 albums already... you're probably right, its just weird to see...

@Jabonko: Their 5th record overall yes, however the magazine was referring to it being their 4th record release with Roadrunner :)

Shogun was a musical masterpiece, but Ascendency and Ember To Inferno were sylistically brilliant - if you guys can amalgamate those two aspects then this fifth album is sure to be one of the best of the decade (Y)(Y)

@Eetdeth86: Shattering was in DropD or DropC idk which but just so you know

I hope they also have quite a bit of shredding solos rather than just medium speed solos.

I was actually a bigger fan of the last two albums. Can't wait for the new album, regardless.

Thought Matt said during the Shogun tour (talked to him in Wisconsin) they were trying some drop-B for the recording of their new album. Maybe "Shattering" was that trial for it. Anyhow, that song was really cool and I guess it doesn't really matter what tuning the songs are in as long as they are awsome (which without a doubt they will be )!

i wanna know the date for the new albuM

Jabonko's picture

@Tuck0rz: yea but you cant really trust the videos, they use 6 strings in both the down from the sky, and throes of perdition videos, trust me its on a 7 string, watch a live performance

Jabonko's picture

@Tuck0rz: nah becoming the dragon, the crusade and this world cant tear us apart are all on 7 strings...

Storty's picture

I cant wait for this new album. I would love if they continued to do more stuff like Shogun but Ascendancy was an incredible album and it's gonna sound phenomenal!

metallixion's picture

bueno a mi me encanta el album Ascendancy, asi q espero con ansias el nuevo album lml. .lml saludos desde chile

Make this sounds like the first 2 albums "Ascendancy" and "Ember to Inferno" and I will be happy.

Those albums are Trivium, Shogun is great still, and to be honest, I didn't like The Crusades a ton, it was still a great album though.

I think Ascendancy and Ember are the best, Trivium, please return to your roots, the lyrics and vocals back in those albums are epic, I hate to say this, but it seems like you are trying to appeal to the mainstream crowd.

Don't go after the "hot topic" crowd, don't loose respect from your true fans.

Tuck0rz's picture

@Jabonko: Becoming the dragon is six string according to the video but i think ur right on the other ones
and contempt also is on 7

Tuck0rz's picture

@Jabonko: That wasnt the only mistake. They only used seven string guitars on Shogun not The Crusade

@Tuck0rz: and i think 'and sadness will sear' too

mikedeankeen's picture

@Jabonko: yup definitely a seven string song played them both actually but throes can be done on six because there isn't a lot of use of the seventh string but its there mostly in the beginning of the song
