Well, you want every bit of advice on recording id suggest checking out Andy Sneap, go via his website to his Forum. The most amazing tips and help you can get there from the best people at "made in my bed room" to "All singing all dancing studios"
Use that place all the time, upload a clip and people will tell you everything you need to know about making it better.
Ps, if your recording Metal, Its best to Double track or Quad Track. (playing 2 or 4 times on L and then on R)
You have to be tight though for Quad tracking, worth it though. Two tracks panned 100% and two panned 74% for each side works well too. I usually stick a brighter tone at 100%. personal taste that is though.

Thats the 1st trouble i have had here and this was on a night Celtic and Rangers played. so obviously people were out to be dicks because there was fights and that ment police were busy.
