I personally thought it was another solid album from a great band. :-) People were obviously going to scrutinise the record since it was the follow-up to arguably the band's most successful album, "Ascendancy". Yes, the vocals took on a different direction but I personally liked it. All bands tend to do it once or twice in their career. Metallica did it, Avenged Sevenfold did it, Slipknot did it and countless others have. Trivium are always trying to break the boundaries of metalcore and progress further. The new vocals made them more accessible to people and brought in a new wave of fans. If anything, I think The Crusade was more of a financial success than Ascendancy but don't quote me on that.
